[Week 2] Getting Warmer

everyone~ it feels like a blink of an eye only, and new we stepped into week 2 already. This time, we're doing some housekeeping before really come to the lesson. First, Pn Foziah distributed a profile form and a survey form to be completed.  Now we know what we have to do with the passport photo that Pn. Foziah asked us to prepare. Then, since there are 2 groups for this course (Group 2 on Monday, and we're Group 1), we have to elect a leader and a treasurer. After quite a session of "tarik tali", finllay we have a leader and a treasurer for the class. They are Hazwan and Dominic.

Kudos to both of them for willing to take the responsibility. I'm looking forward to work with both of them.

As for the lesson, we have been introduced to 5 models that we will learn throughout this course. Really looking forward on that too..the 5 models are;

• Internet and competence skills (okkay, I think I'm not so alien in this)
• Photo editing skills (using photoshop? Wow! I never use that ever before. I used to edit pictures using online software, like 'picnik' or photobucket)
• Video editing skills (I know nothing apart from downloading video from youtube)
• Audio editing skills (I totally do not know anything)
•  Software for ESL skills. (E-Toys? We are introduced to this in the Technology for Primary School class)

Then. our lecturer introduces us to 'touch typing'. Touch typing is typing without using the sense of sight to find the keys. Hence, we can type faster cause we can refer to the materials that we want to type instead of looking at the keyboard. The key point is, put our right index finger on the letter G and left finger on the letter F. So we really need to fully use all of our fingers to type.

Anyone ever play the above game on facebook? It is a very good practice for typing. You should try.

And then. we're also introduced to ‘Skydrive’ which is a part of Microsoft Windows Live range of online services. It was also the file storage and sharing services that allows users to upload files to the computing cloud and access them from the web browser. Well, in the simplest word, it is a file storage that enables us to share and look into each other’s files.

And finally. Our first assignment - Blog (20%). In this assignment, we have to update our blogs with the weekly reflections and also our thoughts regarding this subject. Well, although it is may not be my 1st time blogging, Iit is my first time to blog academically however I still do enjoy the process of creating a new blog and making my blog looks attractive.

[week 1] Introduction > Well, I am 'techno' shocked!

Date : 13th July 2010 (2nd day of my new sem in UM)
Place: MK2 (what MK2 stands for? Ouhh..and where it is?)
Course: PBEY 3101 > Using and Developing Resources for Primary Classroom. (Okkay, the title of this course doesn't seem so scary but still no exact expectation)

When I entered the lab for the first time, I saw a lot pf PCs in it. Oh no! That definitely give me the idea that this course would definitely requires skills in dealing with computers which I am not so good at. Yes, I have a facebook account for my social networking, yes, I am using Yahoo instant messenger to connect with my friends or visit youtube to watch video clips or have a sneak peak on a movie. This wouldn't be the same. when it comes to using PC for a university course, that surely mean business and not merely for fun.

Our lecturer, Pn. Foziah gave us introduction about the course, on what to expect, what to prepare. Wow! an 8G pendrive is required apart from books. That is new, previously, we were never asked to prepare a pendrive for a course. This must be something. I looked around and all my friends also have that same look, of anxiety, of being thrilled and excited in the same time. Even though with the same faces around, we are in a new place, with a new teacher, new requirements, new way of doing things. So, I think it is normal to be nervous, thrilled, and excited all at the same time. I guess we're just 'techno' shocked. Yet, I am really looking forward to this course to know and absorb everything that this course will offer. Chaiyok!
